Senior End to End Architect

Position Highlights:
What makes for a good IT solution? What are the key architectural decisions that need to be made for a project? How does one determine the most appropriate choice among competing IT alternatives?
Are these familiar questions? If so, you may be a candidate for this Senior End to End Architect position at ICBC. End to End Architecture Services, part of the IT Architecture department, provides IT Architecture solutions in support of a wide variety of business initiatives across a complex and varied technology landscape, including mainframe and extensive distributed environments. As Senior End to End Architect your role is to define a solution architecture specification or IT strategy, and then transition it to a build and delivery team for successful implementation.
The successful candidate will have proven skills and years of experience working collaboratively with experts from stakeholder IS and business departments to answer the architecture questions and deliver the appropriate solution architecture or strategy specifications, in a medium to large heterogeneous IT environment.
Your responsibilities include:
- Creating and maintaining end to end architecture specifications.
- Assessing existing end to end architectures for their ability to support complex business initiatives and projects.
- Providing guidance and direction to junior staff, or contractors, working on end to end architecture deliverables.
- Acting as a project leader on end to end architecture services projects.
- Investigating advances in technology, industry best practices and assessing the capacity of the corporation to absorb and/or support new technologies and processes.
Position Requirements:
- Ability to balance complex competing interests and manage solution risks
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with stakeholder departments, in determining an appropriate solution
- Exposure to a wide-range of IT solutions and platforms is an asset, such as Mainframe systems, SAP and distributed Microsoft and Java solutions
- Familiarity with industry architecture frameworks and best practices
- Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture principles and lifecycle
- Understanding of IT Security principles and approaches
- Understanding of integration technologies and approaches, and integration of 3rd party solutions into existing IT environments
- Knowledge of Data Warehousing principles and approaches would be an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in a continuous learning environment
- Experience with process and methods for acquiring software solutions.
