Position: Support Worker, Ãmá House
Status: Temporary, Part time (for 3 months starting July, 2009)
Hours: 20-hour average workweek, Friday/Saturday & Sunday, 11:30pm to 8:00am
Salary: $17.92 per hour
Location: South Surrey

An exciting opportunity exists for a Support Worker at Ãmá Transition House with Atira Women’s Resource Society. We are a feminist-based organization offering a challenging and rewarding work environment. An understanding of the dynamics of violence against women and other forms of oppression is an asset.
Qualifications:
Minimum one-year experience as a front-line support worker for women impacted by violence committed against them by their intimate partner and/or other family members. Awareness of the impact on women leaving federal institution. Services to be delivered in a manner consistent with Atira Women’s Resource Society’s feminist-based philosophy, and take into consideration all forms of oppression facing the women who live at Ãmá House.

Knowledge of/commitment to Harm Reduction model of alcohol & drug treatment
Ability to articulate a feminist analysis of violence against women
Education
Formal education/credentials will count only as much as work experience.
Additional Requisites:
• A valid First Aid certificate is required.
• All positions are subject to a criminal records investigation.
• Must have a driver’s license and access to a vehicle while on shift.
