ASP Application Developer (Richmond)

Job Description:
Canada Health Solutions, a leading global provider of affordable healthcare savings solutions, is looking for an experienced and versatile ASP Application Developer to take a hands-on design and development role in programming and maintaining our innovative e-commerce applications. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the company’s corporate IT initiatives by helping to maintain existing IT applications and develop new solutions to meet the company’s growing IT needs.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Provide first, second and third tier support for existing applications
• Maintain and enhance existing ASP and ASP.NET applications
• Assist in the design and development of new applications
• Implement modular and reusable solution subsystems that will reside in various solution layers (web layer, business systems layer and application backend)
• Provide time estimates for any system solution recommended
• Develop technical specifications based on the preferred / chosen solution
• Design, build and test solutions
• Develop ad-hoc reports using SQL
• Perform unit testing and functional testing of programs
• Create documentation as required by the established process
• Work within and align to the architecture, conforming with standards and being aware of parallel activities and dependencies of other projects
The successful candidate must possess excellent organization and time management skills and be highly versatile in his/her skill set. The candidate must be a strong assertive communicator capable of presenting ideas in a clear, concise, and logical manner. Candidate must also have a strong entrepreneurial mindset and is capable of working in a hectic fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Ideal candidate should possess the following traits:
• 2-4 years experience in software design, development, and management
• Strong competencies in ASP classic and ASP.NET (Mandatory)
• Previous experience migrating ASP classic into ASP.NET
• Strong experience in SQL database development and database performance tuning
• Experience in JavaScript
• Experience in Adobe Photoshop
• Strong communication skills and ability to take direction from non-technical people (Mandatory)
• Ability to solve routine technical support issues
• Experience working with Windows 2003 Server/Network Administration
• Strong decision-making skills and ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to successfully multi-task to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
• Must have excellent work ethics, dedication, and eagerness to take on new challenges
